Chocolate as a Medium
Why chocolate?
Why chocolate?
When you work with chocolate, there are basic rules you have to follow. Rules you cannot simply ignore. Temperature, timing, texture, composition. It has been around for centuries, mostly with the purpose of making moments a little sweeter.
We see chocolate as a medium. A material we can use to create an unusual art piece something where your emotions can be triggered by what you see, by a crack that happens unexpectedly, by the layers that reveal different textures, and by the flavour, which we see as a composition.
The experience starts before the first bite. Like with other art forms, we want you to wonder. To feel surprised. To be curious. Maybe even a little hesitant.
We have learnt to appreciate art by looking at it, taking our time with it, and being careful not to disturb it. So there is something slightly strange about being presented with an artwork that you are expected to break.
But to have the full experience, you have to. You have to take the first bite. You have to break the layers. You have to destroy the artwork.
Most artwork is created to survive. Ours was created with an expiry date.
